Mr. Abdullah Bitar – Design and Facilitate an Active Deep Learner eXperience

Introduction

After the deep impact that the FIRSTorg-ADLX Framework had on developing my practices in the field of learning facilitation (training), my journey with facilitation was no longer just a passing stage in my professional path. Rather, it became a true turning point that reshaped my perception of learning and training. Since joining this journey, I felt that I was experiencing a unique learner eXperience unlike anything I had encountered before—an eXperience that led me to believe that true learning facilitation is not limited to transferring information, but rather revolves around building a Learner eXperience that participants live through in all its details and feel personally connected to in both their professional and human realities.

Designing an Active Deep Learner eXperience

When I began designing the journey within the FIRSTorg-ADLX framework, it was not merely about organizing content or preparing learning materials. Instead, it was a comprehensive process of building a living Learner eXperience that considered the diverse needs of participants and addressed the daily challenges they face in their work and communities. I carefully reflected on every detail: How could this journey create a real impact in participants’ lives? And how could the learning outcomes transform into practical applications that participants continue to live by after the sessions ended?

My design process was grounded in the belief that deep learning does not happen through lecturing, but through interaction, reflection, and connecting learning to reality. Therefore, I was keen to identify both core and parallel learning outcomes that would help participants create a positive impact in their communities and workplaces. To me, the design was never just a worksheet; it was a life map intended to embody everything human and meaningful within the Learner eXperience.

Transitioning into Facilitation

As I moved from the design phase into facilitation, I began experiencing the real challenge. A question constantly accompanied me: Would these ideas truly transform into a living Learner eXperience for participants? And would they engage with it in a way that made it part of their reality?

During facilitation, I focused on the learner as the center of the journey and worked on building authentic interaction between participants and the learning content, as well as among the participants themselves. The goal was not for them to simply listen, but to discuss, analyze, exchange ideas, and propose practical solutions to professional and community challenges they faced. With every moment of interaction, I felt that the Learner eXperience was gradually transforming into a safe space for expression, reflection, and change.

Participants’ engagement also played a major role in deepening the eXperience. I began noticing how they became more immersed and more courageous in expressing their thoughts and emotions, and how this positively influenced the depth of discussions. Even the simple words some participants shared after the sessions carried a deep impact for me, as they reflected a genuine sense of belonging to the Learner eXperience and a desire to continue.

Deep and Continuous Interaction with Learners

Over time, I no longer felt that I was simply facilitating a learning journey; rather, I was living a complete journey together with the participants. I continuously followed their interactions, observed the development of their ideas and behaviors, and adapted certain details to align with their actual needs. This ongoing interaction gave the journey greater vitality and made it more closely connected to the participants’ realities.

I was also keen to invest in the spontaneous moments that emerged during the sessions and transform them into opportunities for meaningful learning. Every question, situation, or contribution had the potential to become a starting point for deeper understanding or more realistic application, which kept the eXperience flexible and continuously evolving.

Continuous Application and Adaptation

The journey did not stop at the learning sessions; it extended beyond them through ongoing follow-up, development, and reflection. I strongly believed that any learning that does not reflect on reality remains incomplete. Therefore, I continuously followed the impact of what participants learned in their practical lives and encouraged them to apply the ideas they had gained within their different environments.

With every new Learner eXperience, I revisited the details of the journey and sought to improve and refine it, whether in terms of interaction, activities, or facilitation approaches. This continuous adaptation was not driven merely by the desire for change, but by my belief that facilitation itself is an ongoing learning process, and that the success of any learning journey depends on the facilitator’s ability to reflect, grow, and continuously improve.

The Positive and Sustainable Impact on Participants

The most significant impact I observed after this journey was the real transformation that began to appear in participants’ behaviors and in the way they thought and interacted. The journey was no longer simply about acquiring information or attending a learning session; it became connected to building greater self-confidence, strengthening initiative, and believing in the ability to create a positive impact within society.

Moreover, the continued communication with some participants after the sessions ended became an important indicator of the depth of the journey’s impact. They shared their reflections and new applications with me and spoke about their attempts to apply what they had learned in their work and daily lives. This confirmed to me that the Learner eXperience was not a temporary event, but rather a true turning point in their professional and personal journeys.

The moments that remained most impactful for me were those in which I felt that participants had become more self-aware and more confident in their ability to succeed and create change. At that moment, I truly realized that the impact of FIRSTorg-ADLX is not measured by the number of activities or sessions, but by the deep and sustainable impact it leaves within the individual.
