Introduction
Mr. Mohammed Abdullah works as a facilitator and trainer and is interested in building Learner eXperiences that go beyond content delivery toward creating a real impact on ways of thinking and behavior. Throughout his training journey, he noticed that many learning sessions succeed in creating momentary interaction inside the room, yet fail to leave a sustainable impact beyond the end of the session. As he experienced FIRSTorg-ADLX Framework, he began to view learning journeys as integrated pathways designed to create a gradual Learner eXperience that guides participants toward awareness, decision-making, and real-world application.
This need became particularly evident while working within a specialized training environment where the nature of the context required a high level of awareness regarding behavior and discipline, since any decision could directly affect practical reality. For this reason, he chose to focus on the “Code of Conduct” as a core reference that guides how individuals should act in situations where decisions may not always be entirely clear. The goal was not merely to present theoretical information about the guidelines, but rather to build a Learner eXperience that helps participants understand the impact of their decisions and how those decisions reflect on the reality they live in.
A group of participants took part in this Learner eXperience within a face-to-face setting that relied on dialogue, situation analysis, group work, and individual reflection. During the design of the meeting, careful attention was given to ensuring that the Learner eXperience moved gradually from theoretical understanding to real-life reflection and eventually toward examining behavior and decision-making.
eXperience Design Overview
The facilitator chose to use FIRSTorg-ADLX Framework because the challenge was not only related to understanding the content, but also to designing a Learner eXperience capable of changing the participant’s way of thinking and enhancing awareness while dealing with real-life situations. The Holistic Map, along with the different design maps developed by SeGa Group, helped create a clear structure for the learning journey so that participants would not move between disconnected touchpoints, but instead live through an interconnected Learner eXperience that begins with reality and ends with reflection and practical decision-making.
The journey was therefore not used merely as a space to explain the Code of Conduct, but as a pathway that encouraged participants to reconsider their behaviors, compare their decisions to established principles and standards, and eventually arrive at a deeper understanding of discipline and responsibility.

Sequence of Activities and Learner eXperience
The face-to-face learning session was designed as an interconnected sequence that gradually moved from general dialogue to the analysis of real-life situations and then to personal reflection. The meeting began with introductory discussions that helped participants recall their own realities and connect with situations they actually encounter. Participants then moved into group work where they analyzed various scenarios and made decisions related to them before returning to the Code of Conduct to interpret and reflect on these decisions.
Throughout the meeting, transitions between activities were not fragmented. Instead, the Learner eXperience was built as a clear and gradual pathway, which helped maintain participants’ focus and sustain their engagement without distraction. Different patterns of interaction were also considered, including collective dialogue, group work, and individual reflection, in ways that respected participants’ nature as well as their levels of energy and attention.
A Learning Activity Using the RAR Model
Analyzing Situations According to the Code of Conduct
Readiness Increase
Participants were invited at the beginning of the activity to recall realistic situations they might face during work, especially situations where decisions may not be entirely clear. The facilitator prepared them mentally by raising open-ended questions about how decisions are made under pressure and what reference point could be relied upon during moments of hesitation. Participants were then divided into groups, and different situations were distributed among them in a way that created focus and deep engagement in discussion.
Activity Facilitation
The groups began discussing the proposed situations, and clear differences emerged in perspectives and interpretations, as each team attempted to justify its decisions according to its understanding of the situation. During the discussions, participants repeatedly returned to the texts within the Code of Conduct in an effort to support and justify their decisions. The facilitator’s role was not to provide direct answers, but rather to follow the discussions closely, ask deeper questions, and encourage participants to reconsider their positions and analyze the practical impact of their decisions.
Afterward, the activity moved into a deeper stage where each participant was invited to write about a real situation they had previously experienced and then reassess it according to the Code of Conduct. At this stage, participation became more personal and realistic, and participants began rethinking past actions and behaviors from a different perspective.
Reviewing Actively
During the Reviewing Actively stage, the discussion extended beyond what participants had analyzed during the activity itself and moved toward reflecting on how this Learner eXperience could influence their future decisions. Some participants began discussing practical steps they intended to take later, while other reflections revealed genuine reconsideration of previous behaviors.
One participant expressed this by saying:
“I went through a similar situation before, and I was convinced my reaction was right, but now I see it differently.”
This type of reflection demonstrated that the Learner eXperience did not remain within the boundaries of theoretical discussion, but instead transformed into a genuine review of behavior and a direct connection between learning and practical reality.
FIRST-ADLX Domains in Action
F – Focusing on Learner Behaviors
This domain appeared through giving participants genuine space to think, analyze, and express their opinions without imposing ready-made answers on them. The facilitator also relied on questions that encouraged participants to review their own situations independently while trusting their ability to reach realistic conclusions connected to their personal experiences. This contributed to building authentic engagement during the meeting because participants felt that the Learner eXperience was directly connected to their actual reality rather than abstract theoretical content.
I – Interacting within Positive Group Dynamics
The meeting was characterized by a dialogic atmosphere based on interaction, discussion, and the exchange of perspectives. This became particularly visible during group work and situation analysis, where participants discussed ideas openly, listened to different viewpoints, and attempted to reach shared interpretations. The facilitator’s calm approach also contributed to creating a safe environment that allowed for reflection and reconsideration without fear of making mistakes.
R – Reviewing Activities within RAR Model
The RAR Model was implemented in an interconnected manner throughout the activity, beginning with mentally preparing participants by recalling real-life situations, followed by facilitating discussion and decision analysis within groups, and ending with Reviewing Actively, which encouraged participants to rethink previous situations and connect learning to practical future steps.
S – Sequencing within the Learner eXperience
The learning meeting was built around a clear and gradual pathway that began with recalling reality, moved into situation analysis, returned to the Code of Conduct, and concluded with personal reflection. This sequence helped participants move naturally from one stage to another without interruption. Key concepts were also repeated through different methods such as discussion, case analysis, and individual writing, which reinforced learning without creating boredom.
T – Transforming Learning into Performance
This domain became clearly visible when participants started connecting what was happening during the meeting with real situations they had previously experienced. Reassessing past situations according to the Code of Conduct also transformed learning from a theoretical idea into a practical review of behavior and decision-making. This was reflected in participants’ discussions about future actions and practical changes they intended to apply later in their work.
Conclusion and Reflection
Impact of the Learner eXperience on Participants
The interactions that took place during the session showed that participants did not merely understand the Code of Conduct as written guidelines, but rather began viewing it as a reference that helps them understand reality and make more conscious decisions. As the meeting progressed, the questions became deeper, the answers more precise, and the connection between the texts and reality became increasingly clear.
The notes and reflections written by participants also revealed genuine reconsideration of previous situations, reflecting a shift in learning from the level of knowledge toward reflection and transformation in ways of thinking.
Impact of the Learner eXperience on the Facilitator
Through this Learner eXperience, the facilitator realized that the Holistic Map and the other design maps are not merely organizational tools for learning sessions, but pathways that help build interconnected Learner eXperiences capable of gradually guiding participants toward awareness and decision-making. He also noticed that building a clear sequence helped maintain participants’ focus and prevented distraction between activities.
By the end of the Learner eXperience, he did not feel that he had simply explained the Code of Conduct, but rather that participants had begun looking at their behaviors and decisions in a more conscious and thoughtful way.
